The first Polk County soldier killed in Korean, action was Cpl. Homer Greene, 21, of Rutherfordton R-l, according to the Home Friendly Club which keeps a completed rec ord of all available information about Polk County 'men and women in the services. Corporal Greene, although having a Rutherfordton post office address actually lived in Polk County at Cudds Cross Roads section and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude B. Greene. The game will be played’ —Continued From Page One___ MY FAVORITE HUNTER DRAWS LARGE CROWD The second annual “My Favorite Hunter” riding event given by John Donald and George S. Bran non was held Friday afternoon at the Brannon Mulberry Farm on Warrior Drive. A large crowd attended the show and luncheon that preceded it. Herbert D. Oliver of Atlanta, Ga., prominent horse show official, was the judge. George Webster of Chinquapin Farm, riding Dusty Brown, won first place in My Favorite Hunter class; and was followed by Arthur Reynolds riding Tom Dolan for second place; Ray Cochran of the Bennett’s .Long Lane Farm, riding Sir Patrick, was third; Phyllis Witkowski of Cary Page’s Pleas ant Valley Farm, riding Gold Dust, was fourth. In the Hunt Team class Chinqua pin Farm won first place with Ernst Mahler on Blazing Gold, Mrs. H. T. Rindal (nee Sue Tuck er) on Black Wick, and George Webster on Dusty Brown. Second place went to a team composed of John Donald on White’s Folly, Arthur Reynolds on Tom Dolan and Arthur Farwell on Country Gentleman. Third place went to the Page team with Cary L. Page riding Gold Dust, Patty Page on Hot Brick and Alfred Page on Black Patch. Fourth place went to Long Lane Farm with Mrs. E. H. Bennett riding Brown Betty, Mrs. W. E. Munk on Four Cosmo and Ray Cochran on Sir Patrick. Farm workers today, compared with ten years ago, are producing I about 40 per cent more output for ! every hour of work.
